We live in Portland, Maine and keep getting bills on our Discover Card from First Choice Power in Houston, Texas. We cannot figure out why this has happened. It has happened twice now. We disputed the charges and they were credited but then reversed by Discover. Why is this happening? Why would a Texas Power Company be billing us? I need this to be resolved as soon as possible. Too many issues with this company that we never requested to be our energy service provider. Customer service is horrible worse nightmare. I called because I received a statement from your company that I was not even aware of. When I called I was transferred 5 different times hung up on twice put on hold for what seemed an eternity. A salesman for First Choice Power was going door-to-door in my neighborhood and when he came to my door I told him I was not interested and he refused to leave. After telling him my baby was taking a nap and I would not open my door to please leave he said no and insisted I open my door. After asking four or five times, I then threatened to call the police. My Transmission Distribution Charges (TDU) shot up to $20.08 in the last 4 months on a meter that only uses 18kwh/month. I have another account with Champion Energy on the same property and those other meter TDU charges are $6.49 per month Champion says current TDU charges are uniform at $9.98/month and that their, Champion's, charges are passed trough from the utility without any mark-up. Katie Trantham was the most rude, unprofessional respresentaibr I've ever dealt with. Will no longer continue my business. She laughed when I was upset , couldn't answer my questions and was very childish and uneducated about the company. My advice, hire a professional not a rude child. I closed my account in December and was told it would take 30 days for my refund to be sent out. I have had to call every week for the past month to try to get someone to explain why my refund has not been sent. One customer service rep would say we will overnight your refund and nothing the other would say it has been mailed out let me give you the check number. LIES!!!!! I have to sit on... Read more

Trying to pay bill by phone sucks, their system won't accept my correct digits entered, (credit card data..etc) then (after hours of ***) when you get a live person to help you, the *** (Zamed) can't speak good English. I have been a First Choice Power Customer since July 2012. I was never late on my bill. When November came my bill did not arrive. I checked the online system and the bill didn't show there either. I called into First Choice to inquire about my bill amount and was told that due to a recent merger with Direct Energy, they went back and analyzed the accounts and found that I had paid a deposit... I had First Choice Power as my electricity provider for several years and had the budget billing program where your bill is the same each month based off the prior 12 months of bills... Things were fine for a long time... then I get a letter stating that my monthly payment would be increasing. But when I looked at the new payment, it was more than any single bill out of the entire 12 month... Read more
